Health Policy Issue Position Instructions

The student will prepare a presentation as if briefing policy decision makers about a relevant state or federal bill/policy, or local ordinance, that has been introduced but not yet passed, or one that exists and is in need of revision OR elimination. The student will organize their thoughts and communicate is a concise manner to persuade a legislative figure or committee.

The student’s position will be delivered via a method that incorporates both audio and visual components. Examples include (but are not limited to) PowerPoint with voice over, use of a screencasting application (Screencast-o-matic, Jing) or a youTube Video. The presentation may not exceed 15 minutes. There is a 10 slide limit, which does not include the title slide and references slide. A minimum of 5 scholarly citations are required, no greater than 5 years old.

Students will be assigned to a Group Discussion Board Forum. Each student will post their position presentation within this DB forum and then is required to review the work of 2 peers and give substantive feedback. Refer to the assignment grading rubric for further details.
