My name is Svetlana Alpin. I work at the Hallandale Outpatient Surgical Center.

Since the surgery center, I am working at is small, each nurse has an additional responsibility, besides being a Pre-OP, PACU, or OR-Circulating nurse, to help the center function and run smooth. One of the nurses is responsible for scheduling and staffing of the center. The other one is to work on charts and Q and A’s. One of the OR nurses is our Nurse Manager, which mostly takes care of OR supplies and supervises the facility. My additional responsibility is to take care of the pharmacy, which includes ordering medications, return expired ones, monthly outdates, keeping up with new requirements and policies, checking the crash cart and anesthesia carts on a monthly basis, and education our staff about proper procedures.

Being able to shadow a Nurse Manager at the Cleveland Clinic and participation in the theory of the Capstone course is essential input into my experience and work, which gives me an opportunity to learn and compare my facility and the Surgery Center at Cleveland Clinic.

My expectations of this course are to gain more knowledge about leadership and how to organize better communication within a facility in order to provide safe patient care as well as best patient outcomes.

I am hoping to achieve the following objectives through this course:

The first one is to create an inclusive environment in providing quality nursing care in the multifaceted healthcare setting.

And the second one is to demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals to conduct practices that focus on addressing community goals.
