1.Students from two separate academic departments (E and A) were surveyed and asked about the quality of advising they have received. The following is the number who indicated that the advising was excellent for each department.

  • Calculate the proportion excellent for each department.
  • Calculate the pooled proportion and use the pooled proportion to calculate the pooled variance and standard error.
  • Show the basic results of a hypothesis test that the two departments are different (i.e., null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, test statistic, critical value, p-value, conclusion). Use alpha = 0.05. Is there evidence to suggest the proportion excellent is different between the two departments?
