Top Mental Health Challenges Facing Students,

“Mental Health Among College Students,” 19 May 2019, and article “The Top Mental Health Challenges Facing Students,” best colleges both shared similar information on the mental health increase among college students. Also, both articles shared a similar survey amount of N=200 people. The downside to both articles, both articles did not explain what type of survey was being used, such as a randomized or convenience survey.

Summary:

It is important for college students to understand the resources and ways to access those resources in order to receive the appropriate help that is needed. The process on how data will be collected during the course of this study is very crucial for the data methods portion of this research. The above two articles did not provide the type of survey that was being used. To help better understand the growth of mental illness in the college population, a convenience survey will be conducted with this study.

Chapter 3

The methodology behind the research that we are conducting is a primary focus which is qualitative study. A descriptive design because our topic is the perception of the importance of seeking help among college students who experience depression and anxiety, we are analyzing the correlation between them all. The method throughout the research paper is qualitative study because we are going around campus gathering new data from consensual participates. Based on the research question which is “ What is the perception of importance in seeking help among college students who experience depression and anxiety?”. Our study is seeking individuals on queens university of charlotte campus and we are trying to see how they perceive the importance of seeking help among college students who experience depression and anxiety.

We are using a survey that helps determine the relationship between variables, determine association strength and determine predictions .The survey will consist of 10-15 questions and they will be on a scale of strongly agree to strongly disagree also some yes or no questions are asked based on the research topic.

Setting

The study is going to be conducted in a collegiate environment where we are walking around the campus gathering information based on the surveys that we are prove to the focused group that we are basing our research on. It is going to be conducted in an open space so people are able to feel comfortable.

Sample

Our sample population is the same as our source population which are traditional undergraduate students who are between 18 to 26 years old and they can be male or female who attend Queens University of Charlotte. Our research population excludes students who are younger than 18 and older than 25. Also no one who do not attend Queens University of Charlotte

Protection of Human Participants

We will keep our participants safe by keeping the information they give us anonymous and confidential. There will be a consent given to them if they agree to participate in the study. The data will be collected through a survey and the consent form will be given at the beginning of the survey. The survey will be distributed randomly throughout the student body on Queen’s campus so no one is singled out. The data will be stored on an excel spreadsheet locked away. Once all the data has been collected and once the experiment is over all the participants data with be deleted.
