Points possible: 12

Steps:

Review Chapter 14, including the Three Conditions Needed for Infection (Figure 14.1 in your text), the Routes of Transmission, and the Types of Pathogens from your Access to Health 15th Edition by Rebecca J. Donatelle TEXTBOOK.

Review Chapter 15 in your textbook. Then, choose one infectious disease to learn more about from either the textbook, the CDC website, the Planned Parenthood website, or Bedsider.org website. You could….

· learn more about the current E. Coli outbreak, go to https://www.cdc.gov/ecoli/2018/o157h7-11-18/index.html (Links to an external site.)

After you have reviewed the required readings and learned more about infectious diseases, answer the following for your assignment:

1. Describe the Epidemiological Triad of Disease.

2. Describe the infectious disease you choose to learn more about. Be sure to include what TYPE OF PATHOGEN (bacteria, virus, fungus, or parasite) causes the disease.

3. Describe your risk for contracting the disease.

4. Describe 3 actions you could take to reduce your risk (and your partner’s or family’s risk) of contracting it. A strong response to question #4 will refer back to the conditions needed for infection, routes of transmission, the triad of disease, and how you can reduce the risk of infection or transmission.
