All these facilities are normally linked to each other as they serve almost the same purpose of ensuring that the American citizens have access to quality health services. However, the system is experiencing some controversies that are derailing the delivery of services and rather raising debate in the American Congress. One of the significant medical issues being debated about American health services is the therapeutic cost. In America, the cost remains unrealistic to many people, thus making it hard for the American citizens to afford health care facilities. For instance, the cost of medication is still high as per the according to surveys conducted by the Kasler family that gathered views from American citizens. The results indicated that 72 percent of all citizens feel that the cost of medication is too high. Common wealth report, on the other hand, shows that the American government spends more funds in on health care per person than any other nation globally (Asarnow et al ,46). The two competing solutions for the American medical expenses are: the introduction of competitive bidding in medical tenders, including the supply of restorative equipment in order to limit government spending, and the restriction of direct referrals by the doctors (Asarnow et al ,46). This immediate referral can be utilized for patient misuse at whatever point where referrals are transformed into benefit making plans rather than medical advantage for the patient. After evaluation of the above medical solutions that are present in the US, the one that would be worth giving a lasting solution to the American health system considering is the introduction of competitive bidding for the manufacturers and suppliers of medications and other equipment to limit the cost of obtaining quality healthcare (Wechsler et al ,78). Competitive bidding is thus the best strategy by which the cost of medical services can be made reasonable to the American citizens.
There are various roles that are played by the federal government in the providing quality and affordable health care to the citizens such as, managing the health care sector in order to guarantee the citizens quality care by eliminating misuse of facilities. The government plays the role of evaluating and developing technologies that are effective in improving the health care facilities and service delivery (Wechsler et al ,78). They also fund It also funds health- related research projects in order to come up with a cure for illnesses that are yet to be given remedy and inform people on preventive measures that are effective in controlling the spread of diseases by organizing workshops and seminars for the medical staff and rallies for the general public. More examples of roles the federal government plays to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety are ensuring that even the most vulnerable populations have access to quality care, oversee health care quality, and organize stakeholders throughout the whole health care system (Eisenberg).
