Epidemiology

Epidemiologic information plays an important role in meeting public health objectives aimed at promoting physical, mental, and social well-being in populations.

  1. Describe your previous experience with epidemiology in your nursing education.
  2. Describe how you currently apply or have applied epidemiology in your current or previous roles.

Review the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) document, The essentials of doctoral education for advanced nursing practice (2006). Describe the Essential or Essentials by number that speak to the role of the DNP regarding epidemiology and biostatistics.

3. As a DNP, explain how you perceive that you will be applying/meeting the DNP Essentials you have identified.

4. Describe how you as a DNP-prepared nurse anticipate applying epidemiologic findings to prevent and control disease, injury, disability, and death in a specific population you are currently working with now or anticipate working with in the future. Be certain to include examples to support and explicate the important points, statements, and assertions you make.

Your post must have at least four unique peer-reviewed, scholarly references.
