Dissertation Topic Statistic Research

  • Considering your dissertation research interests, identify one continuous variable (Y) to be what you are trying to predict.
  • Then identify three other continuous variables that you would want to evaluate as predictors of Y.
  • State the null and alternative hypotheses based on this design (with a planned analysis using a multiple regression analysis)
I have provided my document with the information to help answer the question, I will also provide a sample to help with the.
***SAMPLE ONLY*** DO NOT USE THE INFORMATION LISTED ON THE SAMPLE TOWARDS MY RESEARCH, JUST A SAMPLE TO HELP YOU GET AN IDEA OF WHAT I NEED*****

A potential study with a planned analysis using a multiple regression analysis in my research area could be set up as follows:

Variables:

Ypred (DV): Student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA

IVs:

X1: EEVI Veteran Friendliness Rating of Institution, as completed by participant

X2: Average number of credit hours carried by each participant per semester

X3: Average number of hours spent on campus each week in addition to time spent in class (study groups, library, VA office, campus life activities, etc.)

Null Hypotheses:

H01:  EEVI Veteran friendliness rating, number of credit hours carried, and non-class hours spent on campus each week are not predictors of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

H02:  EEVI Veteran friendliness rating is not a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

H03:  Number of credit hours carried is not a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

H04:  Non-classroom hours spent on campus each week is not a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

Alternate Hypotheses:

Ha1:  EEVI Veteran friendliness rating, number of credit hours carried, and non-class hours spent on campus each week are  predictors of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

Ha2:  EEVI Veteran friendliness rating is a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

Ha3:  Number of credit hours carried is a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.

H04:  Non-classroom hours spent on campus each week is a predictor of student veteran academic performance, as measured by GPA.
