community and community boundaries

community and community boundaries

pls note:

Hello class,

I am including information that I hope you find helpful as you complete the Community Assessment assignment.
Given the amount of detail required for the assignment, you will need to include speaker notes with the PowerPoint slides. PowerPoint slides should not include a lot of text. PowerPoint slides should include bulleted items. The detail, with complete sentences and citations, should be included in the speaker notes.

Review the rubric to see all that you should include. Remember, the slides should have “bullets.” The speaker notes will have the detail. The speaker notes will need citations when references were used to write the information.
A reference slide is needed.

In your presentation:
Description of community and community boundaries: the people and the geographic, geopolitical, financial, educational level; ethnic and phenomenological features of the community, as well as types of social interactions; common goals and interests; and barriers, and challenges, including any identified social determinates of health.
Summary of community assessment: (a) funding sources and (b) partnerships.
Summary of interview with community health/public health provider.
Identification of an issue that is lacking or an opportunity for health promotion.
A conclusion summarizing your key findings and a discussion of your impressions of the general health of the community.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA format ting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

PowerPoint Tips

– easy to read
Use graphics
Keep wording concise
Keep font size large (use at least a 32 point)
Keep size consistent
DON’T USE ALL CAPS- IT MAKES BULLET POINTS DIFFICULT TO READ – and it can be perceived as shouting.
Use bold when you want something to stand out
Better yet, change the color of the text you want your audience to be drawn to
Italics are hard to read
No more than 6 bullets per slide
No more than 6-7 words per bullet
Don’t use periods at the end of bullets
Capitalize the first word in a bullet but no others (unless it would normally appear capped)
A presentation is not a book; one thought per line
No more than 2 levels of bullets per slide
Simple backgrounds are best
An occasional use of simple animation can be used to create drama
Overuse of animation can be distracting
Graphics should be used for visual appeal
Graphics are best on the left with words to the right of the graphic
Include a reference slide
