calculus writing project for Looping Leibniz

calculus writing project for Looping Leibniz

Your task is quite simple. You need to use integrals to calculate the exact area under the curve of the track of the Looping Leibniz so that your boss can send the word to gather a certain amount of fine wood for the project.

Requirements:

1.) For each track portion set up the integral for the area under that section of the curve (you NEED to set up the integral, describe the technique you will use to solve the integral, and then solve the definite integral for each of these portions).

2.) Add up all the track portions to get a total figure for the area under the reconstructed track. 3.) Finally, you need to answer the following small questions your boss has:

a. What does this Coaster track look like? (Graph the entire track)

b. What is the slope of the lift hill?

c. How many inversions (flips) does this coaster have?

The Track to be fixed (the units are in tens of feet):

You will be graded on completion, accuracy of the calculations, and clarity of explanations.

FACTS: To get full credit…

1.) You do not have to type this project but I recommend at the very least using graphing software to get an accurate visualization of the coaster and to accomplish part 3 of the project. (Desmos.com is a good source for this).

2.) Your descriptions and calculations have to be organized so that they may be understood. I will give no credit to incomplete calculations here. SHOW ALL WORK!

3.) Make sure you fulfill all requirements to the project. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
